Every year around this time, I always look forward for this from my favorite coffee supplier!

Christmas paperbag from starbucks
Starbucks year end christmas paper bag. Of course, it’s not just the paper bag. Every Dec, I will drink loads of starbucks coffee just to exchange for their yearly planner. This year, Starbucks is smarter (in a way, i think is better for me =)). I DON’T HAVE to drink 10 - 20 cups of starbucks grande coffee. I get to buy it just like that and it’s only for RM18! Of course you have to purchase ONE cup of their grande drink.
This year, it is the nicest planner I’ve seen among the previous year.

Starbucks 2009 planner
This year’s wrapping is a little dodgy, but it’s ok, because

Starbucks 2009 leather-cover planner
It has a LEATHER COVER! Taking a closer look.

Starbucks Coffee Leather Planner
Cool right? And this year’s planner comes meaningful because every planner we buy, RM1 goes to charity.

Inside of the 2009 starbucks planner
Nice brass-finished binding. As always recycle-conscious-theme is their standard motto - brown and crepe-feel paper.
What I like the most is those little inserts to every month’s notes.

For those who wants a good motivation or boost for your 2009 career, I think a good planner is a good start. I am excited about 2009. What about you?

Few days ago, I have asked you guys to choose a priority for 2009 among
1. Wealth
2. Career & Work
3. Self Wellness or Religion
4. Education
5. Family
Well. It’s definitely easy to pick 1 priority, but it will never be easy to take action and act on your priority chosen.
For a quick post today. I will give a summary of how the priority that you’ve chosen should go along with your career plans next year. It’s a cycle.
1. Wealth + 2. Career & Work goes closely together. Your job is your wealth. If you are not in the sales line, nor you have any side line such as insurance or freelance, many consider themselves having a stagnant income, WHICH IS NOT TRUE. Why? Don’t expect your company to pay you extra if you don’t have anything extra for your company. For year 2009, I suggest you take up the courage and work out a few great projects for your company. Propose new ideas, let them see your dedication. You will see a way better increment next year!
I have a few friends who always have good increment every year. They are not those who sit and whine how cruel is their boss, or how bad is their office politics. If you want a change in your career situation, you should change how you think and how you act in your job.
3. Self wellness & religion - If you decide to pick this as your resolution 2009, congratulations! Finally you are into the next level of bringing yourself together, and see the miracle of how well being will bring abundance to your career. Care for others, help others to grow in their career will help you to grow yourself very much spiritually and emotionally. Propose to your management to take up some managerial rows such as training new juniors, new staffs. Use what you believe right to change the team, learn and experience.
4. Education - this one is really easy. In your Career 2009 plan, schedule yourself to go on a training that will make your grow in terms of your career. Either you can do it through the company trainings arrange to you or you pay your own expenses to go for a good training. Many that I’ve met always complaint that they are not as good as others, but what have been done to make themselves better? Literally nothing. Clear your busy schedule today, and go on a training! It’s better to reveal your intentions to your management, so that they are aware of your directions, and trust me, many managers will assist you in obtaining the training you want. At least, it is something we are practicing in JobsBroadway. =)
5. Family - Family is not restricted to just your husband or kids, might be your parents too! In year 2009 if you have decided to devote yourself to your family, you should be extra effective in your work. Family sometimes means you have to have more time spend together with them. Plan your work nicely, learn to work ahead of time, learn to expect; it will buy you precious time for your family.
When a priority is made, the only key to make sure your priority give abundance of returns is to TAKE ACTION.
Hope it brings some insight to you & motivate you to look forward for your coming year! I am already anticipating my next year!Trust me, which ever priority that you’ve chosen, and agree to work on it, you will be benefited with all five (Wealth, Career & Work, Education, Wellness & religion, AND family).

It’s almost December. And that’s the end of year 2008. What are we busy these days? Besides closing our year end sales, celebrating Christmas and having a few days of holiday break, the most important thing all of us will do is to let each other know our new year resolution for 2009.

Will family be your priority next year?
I have attended a friend’s wedding last week, in fact many friends’ wedding are coming up. We are embarking on a different stage in life, where priority and importance might slowly move towards stability and family.
We change according to our life priority each year. There will be 5 main areas in life that will change based on needs and environment. Here’s the top five:
1. Wealth
2. Career & Work
3. Self Wellness or Religion
4. Education
5. Family
Let me know which is at the top of your priority list. (Choose only ONE) And tomorrow I will continue on how we can utilize the priority you’ve chosen to make a good career planning for year 2009.
P/S: We are swamp with new jobs! Do check out our website time to time for latest jobs if you feel like making a career move this Dec.

Is year end again! Many of you might be preparing for your appraisal, focal, review, 360 feedback (what ever you name it). It’s time to review what you have done through out the year, and a report card for your salary increment.
Due to the recession, increment might be on the low side, however, on career wise, it is still important to know how you are doing for the whole year. Usually, this is the time for me to look into my achievements, review them to see:
1. What have I done for the company.
2. What are the new skills that I have picked up this year.
3. What are the achievements for myself?
4. Which are the areas that needs improvement next year?
5. What are the new skills that I would like to pick up next year?
6. What are the new achievements that I have planned for my next year?
If you’re able to write down all these. It’s easier for you to review it with your manager, just to make sure you are align with your company objectives. It also gives you new motivation towards your next year, and re-prioritize your career goals.
Surprisingly, many jobseekers whom I’ve met have not done this during their entire career life. If you haven’t done so, you should start now. At least, you will have a whole new horizon about your career.
As for JobsBroadway, these are our achievements for year 2008:

Crowd in a job fair this November

Unemployed Jobseekers Compete For Jobs : 500,000 return to Malaysia
Headlines from NanYang Siang Pao today. Retrenchment on the rise: 500,000 return to Malaysia.
I knew about the retrenchment news secretly via my contacts: some local companies have exercised force leave, some retrenchment, some shutdowns. It was all exercised in a pretty secretive manner.
From my previous post recession and retrenchment, I did mentioned some tips to avoid being chosen in the retrenchment list. After this news article this morning, I feel that I should write some tips for those who need a job fast!
1. Deposit your resume to as many job sites and contacts as possible: (increase your chance)
Your resume can work for you while you are asleep. You should submit your resume to any job site or HR contacts you might know. Here, of course, I would recommend JobsBroadway.com, the more resume you deposit to different networks, the higher your chance of being employed.
2. Practice your interview skills (be the best among your competitor)
If you knew about JOVI (JobsBroadway Online Video Interview), you will immediately start your interview practise online through JOVI Practise. There’s more than 300 most common interview questions asked by current employers. You can record your interview performance, and play it back to see how you perform.
3. Make sure your phone works 24-7
You don’t want to lose any potential employers calling your for an interview. Be sure, your mobile is with you all the time to answer any employers call. Attend every interview if possible. No more being choosy.
Even though we are going through a recession, there’s still plenty of employers hiring. If you are interested, see here for jobs available.
I hope that I could help you guys out there to pull through this tough time together.

I’ve been traveling to and fro Pos Malaysia for the pass 2 weeks. And today will be the 2nd last day to send out the final batch of our HIRING magazine. So, I took some photos while I am there today. If you want to know how our mails are being sorted out, and nicely delivered to your house, this is the central where all the mails to Kuala Lumpur meet.

Busy Pos Malaysia - Where all the mails meet
It’s really busy over here. Mails will be dropped off here at this bulk mailing area and Pos Malaysia staffs will be counting and registering the mails for respective bulk mail account.

Cages to put all your mails
All mails should be either stacked in a pallet or in a trolley cage like this. Today, we are dropping off around 3,000 of them.

The friendly postman who helped us with our magazines
This kind postman helped us to load our magazine to the cage.
Anyway, I’m glad that our employers received it! We are getting lot’s of phone calls throughout the day, giving complements about our HIRING magazine. It has always been the support form them that made us strive harder, and better!

Till then, have a good weekend!
