Matrade 2009
Posted November 20th, 2008 by SamanthaFor the past week, I’m involved in the Matrade 2009 Exhibition. For the 4 days which I’m there, I’ve seen fascinating exhibits across all 5 halls. And for a Thursday, I’ll share some photos which I took. Interestingly, there’s a lot of new product in the market which I find it truly “NEW” and there’s a lot of companies who brought in new product ready to be traded internationally.
As you all know, Matrade is famous for it’s building - it has a hole in the middle of the architecture. Probably due to the recession, Matrade 2009 has lesser crowd compared to last year. For 4 days, we had our lunch in the cafeteria, and I get to meet Mr Raja Teh Tarik.
And I made him to make a Teh Tarik show for me =P
Surprisingly, the teh tarik is smoother after the “tarik - tarik”!
There’s government and semi - government organizations exhibiting their products, Mardi was there for their plantations.
Sadly, and strangely, most of the products which they exhibit are not for sale. There’s plenty of food tasting, but it’s not for sale! They merely want to introduce their products to the international traders and locals.
During my stay, I visited this booth every 3 hours, just to get their free coffee! Their coffee taste the best among other coffee exhibitors. Because of the free coffees that I’ve drank every day at their booth (10 tiny cups per day), they made me take photos with their coffee (*shy*) They have a very big plant in Penang, and I’m planning to organize one factory visit for our members!
Come to the weirdest business of all!
A new business arising in the industry! Leeches! What can they do? They can clean up dirty blood in your body. So, they are selling leeches to suck your blood! It is quite well known in the Malay tradition. For those who had pus, they can clean it up for you and you will heal in days! Some might wonder, how to remove them from your skin when they are sucking your blood?
.
.
.
They will just drop off when they’re done enjoying your blood! Eeeww! And you’ll have to kill it by cutting them into half and just throw it. (*so sad*). So, new pet any one?
