The rumors of Western Digital Kuching closing down few months back has been confirmed - TRUE. According to The Star 24 Dec 2008 on “Help Retrenched Workers, Govt Urged”, some 500 engineers and 1000 technical workers will lose their jobs in March next year.
We do not know whether the close down is entirely because of the economy or other factor. But, we do know that the global demand in the electronic industry have reduced significantly (averagely 11% reduction in demand).
Due to this poor demand, many factories have close down their production line. To reduce the operating cost, factories usually exercise the following steps to retain talent before they decide to go into mass retrenchment.
Down sizing Measures (From Scale of Mild to Severe)

This post is intended for parents, educator, or anyone who think that internship is not so important compared to your academic.
The truth is reverse! I know not all university provides internship program for their undergraduates. They either made it optional or they don’t have it at all. Many of my experience during seminar to assist these bunch of students with their resume is painful, and sad.

By now, I believe most of you have filled in the KWSP 17A form or your HR department have been circulating a form to be handed in by this dec. The KWSP17A form is to inform the KWSP department to maintain your current EPF (KWSP) reduction at 11% else your the KWSP will be slashed to 8%.
It’s a government effort to help employees with their financial, with the reduction to 8%, employee will have more money to spend for their daily expenses.

Yesterday Alicia made a very nice Christmas card for her colleagues. As I was munching my lunch today, I thought of drawing something simple myself. I seldom get to design with the colors that I like (our company color is Purple!). So, here’s a quick postcard for you guys with my favorite color combination, with a girly touch!
